First Blog Post - Push Back on Social Media Gen AI Policies

I’ve thought about adding some kind of blog element to my website for some time now. I didn’t think my first post would be about generative artificial intelligence (gen AI).

Up until now, I’ve been engaging with others online primarily through Instagram, Linked In, and Tiktok. Many of my friends and fellow artists on Instagram have been sharing information about Meta’s ever changing privacy and gen AI policies. Although there is seemingly a way to opt out of Meta using my content, art, and posts to feed its gen AI model, some artists are removing all of their posts and opting out of social media entirely. Is this the beginning of a mass exodus to portfolio website based blogs? Time will tell.

I don’t think i’m quite ready to pull the plug on Instagram and social media as a whole just yet. I’m going to continue to push back against Meta scraping our content and monitor the situation as best I can before deciding whether or not to delete my presence from their platforms.
